Barcelona DJ duo Buffetlibre has launched the first ever musical atlas online. It’s a project called PEACE and it features 180 brand-new tracks from artists in over 50 countries in the world. As if that isn’t enough, all the proceeds from the collection go straight to Amnesty International, all they ask is that you make a donation of at least 5 bucks. Yes, I just hit you up with a lot of numbers so here it is in words for those of us who get scared easily by lots of numbers at once.
Amazing tracks from around the world + nominal donation = pleasure for you ears while doing good for the world
It’s music for a cause with an air of humility. This is not a tribute for Live Earth, and Bono’s got nothing to do with it. It is simply music from lands far and near, available for you and in return all you are asked is to give back. Everyone knows that a product sells better when it is tied into a cause. It pulls on our heart strings and can make us feel guilty in our strongest moments. I think Buffetlibre has done something quite brilliant here. Who wouldn’t click ‘donate’ for so many awesome songs? I think we can all scrape together 5 bucks from the couch monster.
Click here to download the entire 180 tracks. To give you a taste, featured artists include Ra Ra Riot, The Toxic Avenger, Patrick Wolf and Tahiti 80.
And here is one of my favourite remixes from Buffetlibre. I saw Plushgun at CMW 2009 and they are unreal.
